When Jeff heard music, things started to happen..... It started at a very early age when his creativity had him making a drumset out of coffee cans. He would fill them to different levels with water so they would have different tones, and sit by the phonograph and play for hours with pencils that were his drumsticks. It wasn't too long before he started picking up different instruments He wanted to play everything he could get his hands on. Whenever Buddy Rich came on TV, Jeff was glued to his every move. He also took up an interest in guitar while watching his older brother Joe take lessons.
As the years passed Jeff would play his drums & guitar whenever he could. He would wait up late for his brother to come home from work so he could "jam together" with him playing their favorite Beatles songs.

Jeff's musical interests turned to Jazz under the direction of his Junior High School Band Director, and was soon playing at the Monterey Jazz Festival. His development was fueled by his desire and was soon noticed by the National Champion Live Oak High School Emerald Regime Marching Band. (www.emeraldregime.org ) He was brought up from 7th grade to be groomed for the Drumline. In 1978, Jeff achieved National Champion Status with the Emerald Regime.

At this time he was in the Jazz Ensemble, Marching Band, Concert Band, His own groups and still looking for the next challenge.
That challenge came in 1980 when Jeff auditioned for the World Champion Concord Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps in Concord CA. ( www.bluedevils.org ) Jeff made the A corps drumline playing snare drum, The highest & toughest section in the drumline. In 1980 The Blue Devils went on to win their 4th Drum Corps International World Champion Title. After leaving the Corps, Jeff went on to teaching drumlines in Drum Corps and High School Marching Bands winnning several state and national drumline awards.

In Junior College, Jeff was very involved in the Jazz ensemble, performing several years at the Reno International Jazz Festival in Reno Nevada. He also honed his skill in the peforming rock music class playing drums, bass guitar and guitar. It was here that Jeff started to sing, being overheard throwing down harmonies in the back of the class with a buddy. Jeff was put on a microphone against his will and forced to sing by his instructors. On drums, Jeff was fearless but singing was a different story! Jeff pushed his way through his fears, and began singing back up harmonies on a regular basis.
Once leaving college, Jeff moved with his family and focused his energy into playing guitar and songwriting. From there he played in bands and sat in with groups of all different types but eventually settled into playing in an acoustic duo. The Acoustic Preservation Society was his focus for the next 7 years. Singing harmony and stepping out and singing lead parts in this group is where Jeff got over his singing nerves. The group enjoyed regional success playing all over the bay area, and being a sigificant draw at the world famous Gilroy Garlic Festival.

Jeff continued his drumming at South Valley Community Church where he has played the set for the last 17 years. He also founded and taught the South Valley Music Academy, teaching drums, guitar and vocals to young and old alike.

Jeff now enjoys playing solo, and on occasion as a duo with his wife to crowds that love the mellow sounds and great songs from the 60's, 70's and beyond. With his profession now in the music industry with the Boulder Creek Guitar Company, music has filled his life and Jeff is doing what he was meant to do.
